On February 16th, 2023, the Plenary of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) published an announcement titled “EL PLENO DEL IFT CLASIFICA LA BANDA DE 5925-6425 MHz COMO ESPECTRO LIBRE”.
The main content of the announcement is to classify the frequency band 5925-6425 MHz knowing as segment of Wi-Fi 6E will allow its use by general public without the need for license from the regulator.
It is highlight that, within the operating conditions of this unlicensed spectrum, its usage is determined for indoor low-power system and for both indoor and outdoor of very low-power system.
As the IFT has authorized the frequency band 5925-6425 MHz, we are looking forward to the Official Gazette of the Federation (Diario Oficial de la Federación, DOF) with more RF details will be published soon. And for the remaining 6425-7125 MHz, the regulatory agency will continue to follow up on the evolution of wireless access systems and mobile communication technologies, and take into account the market demand in Mexico, so as to grant the use of this part of the frequency band at an appropriate time.
